How to find a thesis

Searching Libraries Australia for Australian theses

Previous Next

Libraries Australia is the search interface for Kinetica, the Australian national bibliographic database and it contains bibliographic records for most theses submitted to and accepted by Australian universities. Find Libraries Australia in the Monash Library Databases page under "L".

For example

If searching for an Australian thesis on 'inventory control':
  • Type the keywords "inventory control" in the first box.
  • Choose Subject from the dropdown box on the left under "Find What".
  • You can combine this with other keyword(s) in the second and third boxes, using AND, which is the default Boolean operator on the right hand side drop down box.
  • Select "Australian" and "Theses" by ticking the boxes in the "Limit to" section, just below the search box. This will search all theses authored and published in Australia.
  • Click on Search.

Tips

  • You can choose "as a phrase" or "exact match" instead of "all of these" from the drop down box just to the right of the search box to make your results more precise.
  • You can choose additional limits (Date or Location) from drop down menus toward the bottom of the search screen.
