We are
upgrading the standard of computers
With technology
changing so rapidly, it's not just the number of computers but what they
can do that is important. The library has recently upgraded 162 computers
across all eight branches in Victoria. A major upgrade of computing
facilities in specialist areas, such as the Matheson postgraduate room,
occurred in semester one 2003. There are now only 81 computers in the
library that are over 3 years old, and it is the library's intention to
replace most of these by the end of the year. A planning cycle to keep
equipment up to date is in place.
We will continue to install facilities for laptop users
Installation of the wireless network for lap top usage is now available
in Caulfield, Pharmacy and Matheson libraries. Docking stations for laptop usage are also available at Law and
Matheson, with 10 docking stations being installed at Caulfield in second
semester to provide flexible access to the libraries resources.
We are upgrading equipment for users with a disability
-
New adaptive technology rooms (for users with disabilities) have been
installed at Berwick and at the Law Library with existing adaptive
technology rooms being upgraded to include new computers and software.
"Electronic equipment in the library
includes computers, docking stations, wireless network facilities,
copiers, printers, microfiche viewers, multi-media equipment such as game
consoles, equipment in training rooms and special facilities for users
with a disability. Keeping the variety and amount of electronic equipment
in working order and maintaining quality and performance is one of our key
priorities and we are now motivated to work even harder on this."
