- Anglicare is an urban
welfare organisation from the Sydney Anglican Church. They publish research into
social issues and provide a range of welfare services.
- Australian Childhood Foundation in
partnership with Monash University, has established the National Research
Centre for the Prevention of Child Abuse to research the problem of
child abuse and identify constructive solutions. All the research
reports published by the Foundation are available for download.
- Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS)
is the national peak council of the community welfare sector in Australia,
the principle voice of low income and disadvantaged people in social
and economic policy matters. It has an extensive publications program,
with some documents available in full text.
- Australian Institute of Family
Studies (AIFS) is a Commonwealth statutory authority established
in 1980 to promote the identification and understanding of factors
affecting marital and family stability in Australia. Full text publications
are available. Contains links to other Research
and Policy Centres.
- Australian Institute of Health
and Welfare (AIHW) is a Commonwealth statutory authority responsible
for health and welfare information and statistics. Contains links
to publications and data.
- Australian Red Cross is
the Australian branch of the Red
Cross Red Crescent Movement. They provide humanitarian assistance
in crisis situations as well as community welfare support.
- Brotherhood of St Lawrence conducts research into
poverty.
- Carers Victoria is the
Victorian body which serves the interests of carers.
- Department of Immigration and Citizenship provides
information on immigration and Australian citizenship.
- Melbourne Institute of Applied
Economic and Social Research is regarded as a national leader
in economic and social research, especially research and policy analysis
on unemployment and tax and social security reform.
- Jesuit Social Services include research publications
on vulnerable children, families and young people who are at risk of
homelessness and suicide.
- Mission Australia conducts research into
social issues such as family welfare, poverty and homelessness.
- Salvation Army provides
assistance in a broad range of areas, including homelessness, substance
abuse and domestic violence.
- Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC)
operates as an independent unit of the UNSW and undertakes research
into a wide range of social policy issues including unemployment, housing
and health care. There are discussion papers in .pdf format and links
to other social research sites.
- St Vincent de Paul conducts research into
issues such as poverty, homelessness, disaster relief, and refugee
support.
- Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS)
is the peak Victorian body representing social and community organisations.
