Call numbers
Law Library call numbers are basically divided into two parts:
- subject classification: series of numbers that represent the subject area, and
- author classification: series of letters and/or numbers that represent the author or title of the information.
Some call numbers have a third part for the year of publication or extra author information. Call numbers beginning with F-Z can be found on Level 3 of the Law Library. Call numbers beginning with f (for folio) can be found at the end of the F-Z sequence. These books are too large for the normal shelves. See also the online tutorial, How to decipher Law Library call numbers.
