Visitor registration procedures and requirements

CAVAL

Libraries at all Victorian universities and colleges participate in the CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme. Staff and students at these institutions can borrow from Monash University Library. To become a member, contact your nearest Monash University branch library loans desk. You must:

  • ask your home institution's library for a CAVAL card
  • bring this card and your current ID to the loans desk

University Library Australia (ULA)

Libraries at all Australian universities and colleges participate in the ULA scheme. Staff and students at these institutions may join the Library by paying a membership fee. To become a member, contact your nearest Monash University branch library loans desk. You must:

  • have a local address to register
  • bring your current ID card (or proof of enrolment) to the loans desk

Open Universities Australia (OUA)

OUA students who enrol in OUA courses taught by Monash University receive limited borrowing privileges, see borrowing table. You do not need to pay a separate fee to the Library. Your Monash University user name and Authcate password are only available for the duration of your study period.

Visiting students from OUA may join the Library by paying the Individual borrowers membership fee. To become a member, contact your nearest Monash University branch library loans desk. You must:

  • have a local address to register
  • bring photographic ID

Corporations and businesses

A corporate membership entitles your business to 4 borrowing cards. To become a member, contact Library External Client Services

Friends of the library

Friends assist, encourage and promote the library's interests. This is chiefly done through tax-deductible donations and gifts of books, manuscripts, and other material. To become a donor, print and complete the Membership / Donation form (doc 6kb) and present it or post it, with a cheque (made payable to Monash University) for the appropriate amount to:

Monash University 3800.

Gippsland Library only

Items can only be borrowed from Gippsland Library. For an extra fee, borrowing is available from all Monash Library branches. To become a member, inquire at the loans desk of the Gippsland Library

Schools

A school membership entitles the school to 4 borrowing cards. To become a member, contact Library External Client Services

Individuals

Members of the public may join the Library by paying a membership fee. To become a member, inquire at the loans desk of your nearest Monash University branch library or contact Library External Client Services. You must:

  • have a local address to register
  • bring photographic ID
