Comparison to 2005 results

Overall satisfaction has risen to 75.3% in 2007 from 73.5% in 2005.

The lowest performing category continues to be facilties and equipment, which is consistent with past results and the results obtained at other libraries. There have been some improvements in this category presumably reflecting the substantial improvements at to the Hargrave-Andrew Library and the Berwick Library and Learning Commons, as well as ongoing modifications to most libraries.

Major issue

The biggest issue for library users in 2007 still relates to computers: Access to computers to support study/research is adequate. A very slight increase in the gap score of 0.01 from 2005 showed it was fairly stable, as a result of the substantial addition of computers.

One variable showed a slight increase in the gap between perceptions of importance and performance of 0.17, namely Individual seating is adequate.

Other factors that were of concern to clients in 2005 appear on the top 10 issues again in 2007. The gap scores for five issues, relating to adequacy of the library collection, opening hours, access to electronic resources, photocopying and printing facilities, and the clarity and usefulness of information in the library catalogue, have decreased slightly indicating an improvement.

New issues

Three new variables were introduced in the 2007 survey and ranked in the top10 gaps: Quiet study facilities are adequate, The library catalogue is easy to use and Course-specific resources are easy to find and access.
