Library user's survey 2005

"Opening hours meet my needs"

What you said: What the library is doing about it:
Importance: 6.25/7
Performance: 5.01/7
Gap: 1.24

"The increase in opening hours is an excellent move forwards, mainly the weekend as I work full time so extended opening hours allows me more opportunities"

"The extended opening hours of the Caulfield branch has been extremely welcome! Thanks from those of us working students."

"The thing that really bugs me is the opening hours.  I think it should really open earlier, I mean if you have a 9am lecture or tutorial…"

"It would be really great if the library was not closed on public holidays (eg ANZAC Day) as due to work commitments that is an important time to be able to access the library"

  • The library has extended hours at branches in response to demand
    • Berwick Library is now open weekends during semester;
    • Caulfield Library hours now extend from 8am to midnight on weekdays and together with weekends the branch is open 99 hours a week during semester;
    • Clayton branch libraries are open for extended hours before and during exam time.

    The library continues to monitor opening times.

"The current library opening hours seem to please most library users.  The issue is important to our users and our performance has improved resulting in many favourable comments.  The library continues to monitor use and earlier opening times and opening on public holidays are options that will be considered."
