"More individual
seating areas where quiet study is possible"
"Perhaps some
more seating, but I'm not sure where it would be able to go... the group
sections get really busy and overcrowded"
"I've never had a problem so far with the libraries, other than a
lack of seating"
"While
improvements to PCs, equipment and group seating at Caulfield has
improved immensely some improvement could be made to the single cubicle
seating"
"More seating
and small barriers between the seating would be good. So that more
groups can sit and discuss without disturbing single users"

- Applying a master plan for facilities
The library has a Facilities Master Plan which
aims to improve the amenities and ease of use of all library
facilities. As funds permit the principles of the plan are being
introduced to all branches with either refurbishment measures or
lesser appropriate enhancements.
- Clearly designating quiet and group study areas
The Master Plan particularly addresses the issues
of increased seating and clear designation of group and quiet areas.
The library has also recently clarified rules regarding expected
behaviour in designated areas and is rolling out new notices and signs
to communicate this in the coming months.
- Balancing space for study vs space for resources
The overall size of buildings and space
constraints mean that more student space needs to be obtained by
means of careful management of the collection and storage and work is
proceeding on this.
"While the demand on library resources and
facilities is increasing, the space available is not. It is our
challenge to make use of the available space to accommodate group and
individual study as well as resources and facilities."
