"The library is quite noisy and not much work can
be done as a result, especially in the study group area."
"Lack of conducive area to study, partly due to
lack of space, but space must be managed better to compensate for this."
"Too noisy"
"Enjoy the atmosphere in the library. I find I am
quite productive when studying in the library"
"How about improving the Matheson library to the
same standard as the refurbished Hargrave-Andrew!"
"Could you make it clear which areas are for
Discussion and which areas should be Silent?"
"It is stuffy and not a good environment"
"The environment is great, especially the
temperature" |
- We are refurbishing the libraries
The Hargrave-Andrew Library refurbishment is almost
finished. It includes quiet and discussion areas. The effectiveness of
the spaces and facilities will be monitored and will inform
refurbishments and upgrades at other branches.
- We are introducing new signage and notices in all
branches
The new signs and notices are simpler, consistent
and easy to read. “Silence please” will indicate quiet areas. The signs
will assist users and staff in identifying and maintaining quiet and
discussion areas. The signage will be reviewed after it has been in
place for one year.
"This continues to be a high priority for Monash
University Library. The refurbishment period at Hargrave Andrew Library
has been disruptive and difficult for users but we anticipate a
significant improvement when it is completed. Users comments indicate a
wide interpretation of what is conducive to study including temperature,
quiet areas, discussion areas, food and drink, lighting and more.
Refurbishment planning has taken account of this and has also increased
the space available for study areas. Hargrave-Andrew Library will be
the first to be completed and the program will continue through most of
the branches."
