Notes: The Commons Journals have always been compiled by or on behalf of the Clerk of the House.  The texts preserved in the official series fall into two distinct categories:
(a) Journals written rapidly while business proceeded and
(b) neatly written journals compiled after the sitting.
In 1742 the House resolved that the journals should be printed and by the end of 1762 the Journals to date had been printed in 28 volumes.  From 1762 the volumes were generally printed concurrently with the proceedings they recorded.  Indexes are included with each volume.
This collection is a microcard copy of the printed journals.
An annual index on microcard is available for each volume.  They are filed at the end of each microcard volume.
