Notes: This collection contains books printed in Great Britain, British North America or in English elsewhere between 1641 and 1700.  It is essentially a continuation of the series based on the Pollard and Redgrave bibliography.  The collection will eventually include 50,000 titles.  These writings document the rise of mercantile class, the first English settlements in North America and the development of secular philosophy and empirical science.

The collection is based on Wing's bibliography. Items on each reel are usually arranged alphabetically and numerically by numbers assigned in Wing.  However, the items in Wing have not been filmed consecutively.  Access to the titles in the collection is through the printed guides to each subscription unit, issued by the publisher.
