Notes: This microfilm collection will contain nearly all of the 26,5000 titles listed in A.W.Pollard and G.R.Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue beginning with the first book published in English, Caxton's translation of the Recuyell of the Historys of Troye and continuing through the age of Spenser, Shakespeare, Bacon, More, Erasmus and James I.  The series fully documents the magnificent English renaissance, which witnessed the rebirth of classical humanism, the broadening of the known world and the spread of printing and education.

The collection is based on the bibliography by Pollard and Redgrave.  The filming has not been done systematically by starting at the beginning of the bibliography and working through to the end but has ranged back and forth through the bibliography for each subscription unit.  Access to the titles in the collection is through the printed guides to each subscription unit, issued by the publisher.
