Feeling frantic? Tips for finding and using information

The Library is here to help any student who is feeling uncertain now that assignments and tutorial questions are due for completion.

We have the books and online resources you need to complete your essays and assignments. The library catalogue is a key to finding the resources you require, often in electronic form. Searching a key database is another good way of locating information.

Here are some of the many ways the Library can assist you with your academic work:

  • Branch libraries have a reserve area where high demand books can be accessed in the library.
  • Database information sheets on display in the branches highlight key subject databases, helping you choose a good source for your topic.
  • Information desk staff can show you how to search electronic resources effectively.
  • Online chat is a virtual information desk offering real-time help with finding and using resources direct from your desktop, up until 9 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Online tutorials show you how to reference your essay or assignment.
  • Library classes help you find and use the best information.
  • Learning skills classes can help you manage your study load effectively, learn to structure an essay or polish your presentation skills.
  • Learning skills drop-in sessions provide help with how to approach an assignment.
Times for classes and drop-in sessions at library branches can be found on the Library website.
