The CMS Type Vocabulary consists of educational and administrative terms to describe content. Most of the terms are content based rather than format based.

| Correspondence |
Exchange of information between parties eg memorandum, minute, letter. |
| Course |
The accumulation of units, according to a set of rules, that leads to the award of a qualification (eg Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Engineering). In the case of a double degree, this course of study can lead to the award of two qualifications. [Academic Policy - Glossary of Terms] |
| Dataset |
A dataset is information encoded in a defined structure (for example, lists, tables, and databases), intended to be useful for direct machine processing. [DC] |
| Event |
An event is a non-persistent, time-based occurrence. Examples - exhibition, web-cast, conference, workshop, open-day, performance, battle, trial, wedding, tea-party, conflagration. [DC] |

A set of questions or exercises evaluating skill or knowledge. |
| Exemplar |
Example of good practice as recognised by an educational organisation or authority. |
| Form |
An online document with blank spaces for filling in specific information. |

| Journal |
A continuing resource issued in a succession of discrete parts, usually bearing numbering, that has no predetermined conclusion. [AACR 2002] |
| Lecture |
Presentation for the purpose of instruction, professional development, training, community relations or sales. May include notes and presentation support materials eg PowerPoint slide shows that are not intended to be used outside the presentation. |
| Meeting minutes |
A summary or record of proceedings of a meeting. |

News and events about Monash University and / or its faculties, departments, etc |
| Policy |
Document containing principles of action adopted or proposed by an organisation or authority [EdNA] which acts as a reference for future decision making and underpins the organization's operating procedures g strategic plans. |
| Presentation |
Record or summary of information or views delivered to an audience. [EdNA] |
| Project |
Activities organized around a particular academic topic or challenge .[GEM] |
| Promotional |
Descriptive or marketing information about an organization or material that promotes its products, services, activities or collections [AGLS] |
| Report / working paper |
Document initiating or providing a formal response to a situation or request (either internal, external or as a requirement of organisational policy). Includes providing formal statements or findings of examination, investigation or research. |

A guide created to provide students with hints, techniques or management ideas in a particular area. [GEM] |
| Training/Workshop |
Activities associated with all aspects of training (internal/external) available to staff and students. Includes set(s) of materials designed to achieve industry-specific competencies and/or professional development outcomes. |
