Group or quiet study at Sir Louis Matheson Library

Group study rooms

Group study facilities are available for group booking, for a maximum of 2 hours, in the Sir Louis Matheson Library Undergraduate wing and Annexe. At least 3 people must be present when a key is issued for one of the 4 larger rooms. There are:

  • 4 rooms, accommodating 2 people per room (first floor of the undergraduate wing). Book at the loans desk.
  • 3 rooms, accommodating 2 people per room (Annexe basement). Book at the Attendants desk (at the exit door)
  • 2 rooms, accommodating up to 10 people (Annexe basement). Book at the Attendants desk (at the exit door)
  • 2 rooms, accommodating up to 8 people (first floor of the Information Services Building). Book at the Attendants desk (at the exit door)

Additional facilities are available in the Music and Multimedia section.

  • 4 rooms, accommodating from 4 to 8 people (first floor of the Information Services Building), can be booked at the Music and Multimedia service point (ground floor, Information Services Building). These rooms are available for a maximum of 3 hours and are only for use by students who wish to use the library's multimedia collection and equipment. At least 2 people must be present when a key is issued.

A Monash University ID card must be presented at the appropriate library service point when booking. All rooms must be vacated at the end of the booked time. If a room is still vacant after 15 minutes, it may be re-booked.

Quiet study areas

Individual desks and tables are located around the library. Please respect the rights of other library users when using these desks and tables.

Lockers

Free daily lockers for students are available on the lower ground floor of the undergraduate wing. Apply for a key at the loans desk.

Free lockers are also available in the Matheson Annexe for 3 hours at a time. Apply for a key at the reserve desk.
