General Library Committee (GLC)
GLC is a standing committee of the Academic Board. The Chair is appointed
by the Academic Board. Members include representatives of University
administration, Library Management Committee, faculties and students.
GLC meets four times a year.
Proceedings of GLC meetings are recorded in reports submitted
to the Academic Board.
Aims
- To act as an advisory committee to the Academic Board
- To provide a forum for the provision of advice and guidance on the
strategic operation and direction of Monash University Library.
Terms of Reference
- To comment and advise on the strategic direction of Library policy
in the context of the aims and objectives of university and faculty
plans.
- To advise the University Librarian on the distribution of the Library
materials budget.
- To consider the financial needs of the Library and to provide relevant
advice to the Academic Board and other appropriate bodies.
- To report to the Academic Board on significant Library initiatives.
- To consider matters referred to it by the Academic Board.
- To monitor the application of the service level agreements and to
recommend changes as appropriate.
Procedures
Term of office: two years.
The committee has the option to coopt members as appropriate
Membership: reviewed annually
Meeting frequency: four times per year
Secretary: provided by the Monash University Library
