Connecting from Endnote to Gale databases

Connection files for the three databases listed above come with the EndNote program. However, records downloaded with these files include the volume, issue, year and page numbers with the journal title in the Journal Title field, and do not download keywords or abstract. Instead we suggest using the connection files for Expanded Academic ASAP and LegalTrac available on the filter and connection files page.

For Computer database, use the file in the EndNote program and edit to add the Monash username and password (avaialble on request from an Information technology library faculty team member). Extensive editing of downloaded records will be required.

  1. From the EndNote menu, select Tools - Online Search - New Search
  2. Select the appropriate connection file from the list and click Choose. Enter your Authcate username and password if requested. The EndNote search page opens.
  3. Perform the search. When a search is finished a Confirm Remote Search textbox opens with details of the results. Select OK.
  4. References are now displayed. Select required reference/s to transfer into an EndNote library.
  5. Click the Copy # References To button. Select the desired library from the dropdown menu. The references are now transferred into the library.
  6. Select X at the top right of the search screen to close the connection .
