Direct export

If you want to use Direct Export first download the filter file from Filter and connection files page.

  1. Select desired records as you view them and Add to folder
  2. When you have finished selecting, select Folder has items. The set of selected records is displayed.
  3. Select Export, the Export Manager box displays
  4. Select Direct Export to EndNote, Procite or Reference Manager.
  5. Save
  6. EndNote should launch automatically

Import via filter file

First check Filter and connection files for updated filter or connection files. Also review the help files within the database.

  1. Select desired records as you view them and Add to folder
  2. When finished selecting, select Folder has items and the set of selected records displays.
  3. Select Export, the Export Manager box displays
  4. Select Generic bibliographic management software
  5. Save
  6. File > Save As... text file eg ebsco-host.txt
  7. Open EndNote and select library, File > Open
  8. From the menu bar, select File > Import, an import box opens
  9. Import data file, select Choose file and select file eg ebsco-host.txt
  10. Import Option: pull down menu and select Other Flters.... Locate the filter Bus_Source_Prem_(EBSCO) or EconLit (EBSCO)
  11. Duplicates: select appropriate option from pull down menu
  12. Text Translation: leave option as No Translation
  13. Select Import. Records should import and display in a separate window.

Limitations with Bus_Source_Prem_(EBSCO) filter:

  • if necessary, the year must be moved from the Date field to the Year field manually after importing
  • records from this database do not have a tag for reference type, thus everything is imported as a journal article except those publications specified in the filter (to which one may add, if desired)
  • the '@' symbol must be manually supplied to any email addresses imported into the Author field
  • some manual source data parsing may be necessary after importing

Connection

First check Filter and connection files for updated filter or connection files. Also review the help files within the database.

  1. From the EndNote toolbar select Tools-Connect-Connect... select monash_business_source_premier_ebscohost (or monash_econlit_ebscohost). You may be prompted for your Authcate username and password
  2. Perform the search. When a search is finished a Confirm Remote Search textbox opens with details of the results. Select OK
  3. References are now displayed. Select required reference/s to transfer into an EndNote library
  4. Select the Copy # References To button. Select the desired library from the dropdown menu. The references are now transferred into the library.
  5. Select X at the top right of the search screen to close the connection.
