In this book ten Australian researchers working on many aspects of the Devi have come together to offer new research on the divine female. The book is the beginning of a renewed quest for the iconic devi who continues to emerge in her many unpredictably powerful forms.

About the author
Several chapters of this book have been written by research fellows in the Monash Asia Institute: Janyant Bapat, Rashmi Desai, and Ian Mabbett. Marika Vicziany is Professor of Asian Political Economy at Monash and Director of the Monash Asia Institute. Angelo Andrea Di Castro is a lecturer and research associate at the Monash Asia Institute. And David Templeman is a PhD candidate at Monash Asia Institute.
