Book description
Archives : record keeping in society explores the role of archives in
various cultural, organisational and historical contexts. Its purpose is
to provide a conceptual base for archival science which incorporates both
established and emerging ideas within the discipline.
About the Authors
Professor Sue McKemmish is head of the School of Information Management &
Systems and Director of the Enterprise Information Research Group at Monash
University. She holds Australia's first chair in archival systems.
Professor McKemmish's current roles include member of the Standards Australia
Recordkeeping Metadata Committee, member of the Australian Society of Archivists
Descriptive Standards Committee and expert adviser to the AGLS (Australian
Government Locator Service) Working Group. Professor McKemmish was awarded
Laureate of the Australian Society of Archivists and also received the
Australian Society of Archivists Mander Jones Publication Award in 1996.
Mr Frank Upward is a Lecturer in the School of Information Management & Systems
at Monash University.
