Book description
The third edition of this text has been written for
introductory economics courses with the main focus being on the changing
nature of the economics discipline and how it is taught. Recognising that
economics is becoming a service subject for accounting, finance, management
and marketing students, this book focuses on economics within the context of
Business/Commerce degrees. The main emphasis is on developing the
interrelationship with economics and the other major business disciplines.
By stressing the analytical and critical strengths of economics, knowledge
of the subject will assist business students in understanding government
economic policy within a business environment, and will foster a deeper
knowledge of the students particular area of specialisation. The aim of the
book is to provide the student with the ability to analyse economic policy
issues and to understand why economists disagree. Knowledge of economics
develops an ability to understand and provide alternative solutions to
economic problems faced in the business environment. [Pearson Education
