Book description
Harm Minimisation analyses the political factors and forces that
determine governmental illicit drug policies and considers alternative
structural perspectives while examining the harm reduction/zero tolerance
divide. In its first section Harm Minimisation case studies
various contemporary Australian drug debates and in its second section areas
such as women and drug use, the social inclusion/exclusion of drug users in
local communities, and a progressive Christian position on harm minimisation are
discussed.
About the Author
Dr. Philip Mendes is a senior lecturer in social policy and community development in the Social Work department. He is the author of Australia's Welfare Wars (2003).
