Book description
Thinking Black tells the story of William Cooper and the Australian
Aborigines' League. It describes the struggle against dispossession and
displacement, the denial of rights, and the fight for citizenship in their own
country. The most significant moments in Aboriginal leader William Cooper's
political career are explored, as well as the principles Cooper drew on in his
campaigning.
About the Author
Bain Attwood is an Associate Professor of history at Monash
University. Bain Attwood won the State Records John and Patricia Ward Prize in the New South Wales
Premier's History Awards for his book Rights for Aborigines.
Andrew Markus is a Professor of Jewish civilization and director of the
Australian Centre for the Study of Jewish Civilisation at Monash University.
