Australian media law (2nd ed.) By Des Butler and Sharon Rodrick Published by Lawbook Co. (2004) |
Book description
Australian Media Law provides an introduction to Australian media law
for students and professionals in law, journalism, marketing and
advertising. All current legislation, case law and self-regulatory
practices that govern media practice are covered. Australian Media Law
explores issues raised by both traditional forms of media, such as film,
television and newspapers and the more recently developed forms such as the
internet, multimedia and digital technology.
Decisions from the High Court such as Dow Jones v
Gutnick (defamation) and ABC v Lenah Game Meats (invasion of privacy)
are given particular attention. Other areas explored include federal and state
racial vilification laws, free speech, copyright, information sources and media
regulation and ownership
