Book description
In the midst of energetic policy initiatives and scholarly evaluations,
comparatively little effort has been made to dispassionately analyse
China's approach towards its neighbours in the region. To fill this gap
in a small but important manner, this paper tries to look at the manner
in which China has tried to cultivate and consolidate its strategic space
in its immediate southwestern neighbourhood, which is comprised of new
ASEAN members, namely Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Occasional papers
on East Asia ; no. 4.
