Book description
In Freud's Back-Yard, Isobel Robin executes a
beguiling dance along that uncertain line between the light and the serious.
She has a very particular angle on the world that reflects both her age and
her distinctive personality. Often poignant, but just as often raising
a chuckle, this previously overlooked poet is clear-eyed in her human
observations and assured in her craft. (reviewed by Geoff Page).
About the author
Isobel Robin was born in 1924, in Mosman, N.S.W., and
educated in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. She is now a parent
and grandparent. As a mature-age, part-time student, she
successfully completed the Foundations of Professional Writing course at
Holmesglen TAFE in 1984, and later a B.A.(Hons.) and M.A. at Monash
University where she had worked as a secretary.
The poetry collected here has been written, and widely published, over
the last twenty years.
