Book description
Australia Post invites you to reflect on Australia's experience of the 20th century through this book, which uses Australian stamps as illustrative material and as objects of history themselves.

It is a lively and interesting read that captures the spirit of the century, a wonderful souvenir of Australia's history since federation.

The book is organised by decade.  Each decade is outlined, then takes a detailed look at two significant events during that decade.

It reveals some extraordinary Australians and the events they have lived through; such as the terrifying influenza pandemic of 1919 and the first ever visit by a reigning monarch.

Finally each chapter includes a stamp story that reveals some fascinating aspects of Australia's postal and philatelic history.  For example, did you know that there was no Australian stamp until 1913 or that there was a post office established under on of the pylons when Sydney Harbour Bridge opened?
